Stephen de Groot BA, BSW, MSW, RSW

Stephen de Groot is the Owner/Operator of MYRIAD Consultation and Counseling. He is a clinical and organizational consultant and is the author of the Relationship Based Strengths Approach (RBSA) (2003, 2009) to social work helping. Steve specializes in the development and implementation of strengths based interventions at all levels of social services systems from planning to direct service delivery and front-line practice.

Steve has instructed in both the BSW and MSW programs with the faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba for 7 years and for the last 18 years has worked for a variety of organizations within the helping field. In that time Steve has occupied and continues to operate in a myriad of roles such as consultant, therapist, supervisor, author, facilitator, strategic planner and trainer.

For almost two decades Steve has provided support, education and training to parents and helping professionals who live and work with children and youth. Steve's approach to working with children and youth has been informed by relational and strengths based principles and developed out of his successful practice experiences and life stories from more than 1000 teenagers and hundreds of families. Many of Steve's successes have been with youth in care who have been identified by various service providers as "the most difficult", "the most challenging" and/or having the "highest needs" for support and intervention.


Lindsay Woods Frohlich, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate

Lindsay is a therapist, consultant and trainer. Lindsay works from a client centered and strength based approach to therapy and specializes in individual therapy with adolescents and adults, children in care, and FASD.

Lindsay completed her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently in the final stages of completing her doctorate at the University of Manitoba. Her dissertation research focuses on children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Lindsay has worked as a therapist with children, adults, couples and families.

For the last 6 years she has been working with adolescents with high emotional and behavioural needs as a therapist and clinician. Her roles have included clinical therapy, consultation and direction to teams working with children and youth.

Lindsay has co-presented workshops on the Relationship Based Strengths Approach (de Groot, 2003, 2009) and Mental Health and Youth in Care.


Raegan Elizabeth BA (Hons), MSW

Raegan is a therapist who specializes in working from an anti-oppressive and whole-person perspective. She works from a socially-conscious and relationship focus. Raegan has worked with diverse individuals, couples, families and groups. She has done extensive work with children, youth, and adults who have experienced intimate partner abuse, violence, childhood abuse, and other traumatic life events.

Raegan's efforts have also focused on working directly with children and youth, experiencing a myriad of biopsychosocial issues/challenges, who have been in the care of child and family services. Raegan has extensive experience working as a consultant and collaborator on a variety of multidisciplinary teams, in her work to support the children and youth she works with.

Raegan also operates as a trainer and has experience facilitating a variety of workshops, seminars and team-centred initiatives geared towards educating, supporting and enhancing the capacities of helping organizations and their staff.


Chris Hildebrand BA (Hons.), BSW, MSW, RSW

Chris is a therapist, consultant and trainer who operates from a systemic eclectic approach to helping that is primarily strengths and relationally focssed. Chris has been working in the helping field for approximately ten years and in this time has worked successfully with a multitude of diverse individuals, couples and families.

Over the last seven years, Chris has provided clinical therapy for children and youth, experiencing serious emotional and behavioural challenges, who have been in the care of child and family services. Also, Chris has provided clinical direction and support for the families, staff and teams that work with many of the youth he sees in therapy.

For the last several years Chris has been providing counselling and clinical supports to adult individuals, couples and families who are struggling with a myriad of diverse life challenges. His person-centred and collaborative strengths based perspective coupled with his knowledge of theoretical clinical interventions provides Chris with the foundation for effective and successful practice with the people he supports.

Chris has experience as a clinical supervisor and trainer. He has facilitated a variety of seminars, team capacity building initiatives and workshops. Some of the presentation topic areas include Relationship Based Strengths Approach to Youth Care, Mental Health and FASD.


Jeanette Kimball

Jeanette is a therapist, consultant and trainer and has extensive training in Advanced Mediation, Case Development, Conciliation, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. She has served as a facilitator/trainer in restorative justice and conflict resolution for the past 14 years and has provided mediation services to the community both professionally and as a community service. Her expertise is in the areas of family mediation and conciliation, victim/offender, workplace and community disputes. She also assists groups with developing relevant conflict resolution training to meet their needs.

Jeanette is also a trained counsellor and provided family therapy for over 10 years. Currently she works with parents who are separating or divorcing and for this purpose, is an appointed family evaluator and designated mediator by the Minister of Justice.


Abigail Wideman Hughes BSW, RSW

Abi is a clinical consultant and trainer who operates from a value and strengths-based orientation. In all that she does, Abi determines to work respectfully and ethically towards a healthy and just society. She has a wealth of experience working with a variety of organizations that support families and community. In particular, Abi has a great deal of knowledge, experience and skills relating to work with children and youth presenting with a myriad of circumstances, within a variety of settings.

Abi has extensive experience and is quite adept in the areas of supervision, curriculum development, training, case management and mediation. Further to this, Abi's talent extend beyond the clinical realm to encompass skills in the areas of organizational development, project management, team capacity building and strategic planning.
